Young Adults
We welcome ALL adults in their 20s and 30s--married, single, partnered, with or without children--to take part in our Young Adult Ministries. Throughout the year, we offer a range of opportunities to come together, share, learn and grow as Christians. For questions on any of the Young Adults programs,
, our Young Adults Ministry Coordinator. We invite you to join our warm and dynamic group for faith and fellowship! Also, read more about TRAIL, the new interdenominational group.
The fair-trade coffee “Café Justo” is now being offered at ELPC during its hospitality times, and is also available for purchase (by the pound) in the bookstore. Café Justo is farmer-owned cooperative based in Mexico, formed to address the causes of labor migration from Mexico to the U.S. The ELPC young adults are partnering with ELPC’s Mission Board and its Youth and Young Adult Committee to offer Café Justo. We believe in and support Café Justo’s main goal of maintaining a Mexican-owned cooperative with economic incentives for people to remain on their family land and, hence, keeping families together.

Sunday, May 27 at 12:30pm | Estudio de la Biblia, Romanos/Romans Bible Study, Part 2 of 2
The writings of Paul helped shape the early church arguably more than anyone else’s writings. Romans has often been called the cornerstone of his theology and, hence, that which defined early Christianity and still influences our church today. Plan to read through the entire letter to the Romans before this two-part study. (Oremus is a good online bible.) Lunch will be provided. Meets in Room 244.

Friday, June 1 at 7:00pm | First Friday TRAIL event, Morningside Salon
The Young Adult and Graduate Student Ministries of Shadyside Presbyterian Church is pleased to offer a "Salon" on the first Friday of June for all participants in TRAIL. At this Salon (modeled off of Gertrude Stein's regular gatherings at her house in Paris, France during the 1920's), we will discuss the oft-complex topic on "How Christians Should Vote." Participants are encouraged to consider the topic in advance (even feel free to do a little pre-study) and then come prepared to share their perspective for the good of the group. The Salon will be held at YAd/Grad member Randy Adams’ house, at 1655 Chislett St., Pittsburgh, PA 15206 (Morningside). You are encouraged to bring a camping chair and a sweater as we may enjoy the yard and outside fire pit.
Last year the ELPC Young Adult Ministry group attended a local Friday evening worship that left them hungry for more young adult fellowship. After some praying, thinking and planning they invited neighbors to join together to have a Drum Circle group that met in March consisting of individuals from three different denominations and six different churches. It was a good beginning.
And now, this group has spawned a new creation: TRAIL, “Three Rivers Adult Interdenominational Links”: chosen to stress our scope of being broad in area (of all Pittsburgh) and in tradition (of all denominations). We are also all about making links/connections with each other. While we will drum periodically, feedback resoundingly indicated that we want to also break bread together (go out to eat and potlucks), engage in mission and community events, have fun and worship. Who knows what else? If you are a young adult this group is for you! We are open to all, and invite you to bring friends of all denominations and locations. Check TRAIL out on Facebook
To RSVP or for questions, or (412) 260-2554.
Now is the time to get involved with your faith life and with TRAIL and ELPC’s young adult ministries!
