The Taizé Ministry at ELPC

The Taizé Ministry at East Liberty Presbyterian Church offers you a variety of ways to deepen your spiritual connection with God and the community, through classes, workshops and events covering a broad range of topics.

After-Taizé programs are offered most Wednesday evenings from 8:15 to 9:15 pm following our 7 pm Taizé Prayer service. All are invited to attend.

Everyone is invited to a simple supper at 6 pm before every Wednesday service; a free-will offering of $2.50 is appreciated.

Programs include:

  • Ways we walk our faith in our day-to-day lives including different forms of prayer, social action and building relationships.

  • Music and dance—sing-a-longs, movement to Taizé chants; drumming circles.

  • Interfaith dialogues to learn how other faith traditions pray, live and connect with God.

  • Special themes for the liturgical seasons of Advent and Lent.

Taizé Prayer Internationally

Taizé is an international ecumenical prayer community in Taizé, France, located southeast of Paris, north of Lyons, and due west of Geneva, Switzerland. The community was founded 1940 by a young seminary student, Roger Schultz, as a place of hospitality and reconciliation during World War II.

Today, thousands of people come each week to Taizé to pray with the brothers and discern God’s purpose for their lives. Taizé Prayer pilgrimages and intercontinental meetings around the globe bring together thousands more in an effort to become the prayerful, reconciled presence of Christ wherever they live.
