Prevent Malaria with Mother’s Day Cards
Sunday, May 4
Each year, malaria causes more than
1,000,000 deaths in sub-Saharan Africa, mostly among children
under five and pregnant women. Malaria is the number one killer
of children under five in Africa, claiming 3,000 young lives every
day. Women are four times as likely to contract malaria during
pregnancy and twice as likely to die from it.
Net Workers is a malaria prevention
program established by the Presbyterian Church (USA). By purchasing
a Net Workers’ Mother’s Day card to honor mothers, daughters or
friends, you can help safeguard the health of mothers and children
in Africa. Your $10 donation for a card will provide an insecticide-treated
net and malaria prevention education for a woman and her family.
Cards may be purchased after the 11am worship service in the McKelvy
Room on Sun., May 4 or from Kate Carlson in the church office.
