It is distressing that quality health care is unavailable to many people, as well as terribly expensive for almost everyone. The good news is that there is a lot each of us can do to promote good health for ourselves and family members. East Liberty Presbyterian Church has recently formed a Health Ministry. We have already begun monthly blood pressure screenings (third Sundays), and have ideas for several additional events during 2007.

Each month within the Health Ministry web pages, we will be sharing information on a health-related topic and resources for learning more about that topic, as well as offer specific hints and suggestions that can assist you in achieving a healthier life.

Topics to be covered in the coming months include: exercise; weight control; blood pressure control; heart healthy food choices; stroke prevention; stress reduction; smoking dangers; understanding food labels; avoiding diabetes; understanding cholesterol; and more.
